salaam sharmin

in beirut, 2 km away from ground zero.
an infernal celebration of the worst that
science and technology came up with.
a manmade earthquake, of magnitude 8,
delivered from the skies over less than a
week of continuous bombing. the tremors go on.
we are virtual targets in a virtual war game
designed and played out on a countrywide scale
by israeli software engineers and their triggerhappy
gameboys in the military. the network game parlors
that had mushroomed around the southern suburbs
are of no real help i am afraid, except in giving the youth
on the receiving end an appreciation for the visciousness of their
aggressors.

on the ground the situation is quite different though. the moral is
high, and the will to resist manifests itself
at all scales: from welcoming the refugees, to supporting with the
relief effort, to the heroic achievements of the resistance.

iran and lebanon are intertwined once again as they should be and remain
in this ancient network of spiritual strength, and wisdom.

salamaat to all the friends.
jihad
